Goodbye, Lucewoman

Not going to apologise for, or excuse my absence. Apologising would be like saying; "sorry fans! I've been busy working on new material (just like all those has-beens on Nevermind the Buzzcocks). I know you've all been on the edge of your seat waiting for the next installment of uncouth nonsense  from your  smalltown under-stimulated narsisisstic blogger".
I need a laptop, having a computer must be an enormous boon to aid blogging?

I met some extraordinarily beautiful ladies recently. Really, no exaggeration. The proof exists here here here and here.
I met Curtise and Clare first and was struck by their clear-skinned radiance and style. There was no awkwardness or bullshit. Clare speaks exactly how people who read stories should speak - softly but concisely and with the right level of animation. Curtise is as wry, funny  and engaging in person as she is on her blog.
Krista and Vix were waiting at the station and looked like a pair of ornate pained dolls; so petite, colourful, and pretty with the widest smiles possible. Positivity, fun and a zest for life oozes from their pores and I am so glad Krista was able to come to the UK to meet her soul sister.
Louise and her lovely mum had the most sparkly blue eyes, were so friendly and warm.I want to do it all again, but with ten hours in Second to None (the best second-hand shop I've ever been to) and a whole night of eating, drinking and laughing.

It's time to delete this blog. It will not be easy, it changed my life and catalogued a range of emotions which will be unique to the time.
I will start a new one, I will keep up with all my favourites, as I have been throughout despite not commenting much.

I thank everyone who has taken the time to read and comment, everyone who has supported this 'diary'.

I will see you on my new blog, hopefully.

Thanks again for reading,

I'm of for a beautiful tomato Ainsley Harriet Cup a Soup with soya and linseed bread. Jealous?

  1. Hello Lucy
We are sad. Very sad. The only hope that we can now cling to is the promise of a new blog to come. But when? We are desolate. You have a unique voice. A sharp wit. An intelligent eye. Blogworld is not the same without you and lights up in your presence. We shall be waiting patiently for you to pop into the Google Reader......how will we know that it is you?A mention of a Cup a Soup should do it...that will be the sign!!!!

    1. Thank you so much for this comment. I will start a new blog very soon and may just call it something related to the underrated Cup a Soup. Your words have offered much welcome encouragement, I will be keeping in touch, I'm fascinated by your lives!

  2. Hi Lucy,

Firstly I've still got 'that dress' sitting here, waiting to post your way. Sorry I've been so slack. Can you send me your address again and I will post it asap. (pity it's a Summer frock and you're heading in to Winter...but there's always next year...right?)

Secondly, please keep me in the loop re your new blog. I've really missed your posts. I would be quite upset if you started a new blog and I couldn't find it. Okay.

Thirdly, not jealous. Sorry. I've tried one of his cuppa-soups before. It sounded so flash on the packet, but it tasted just like any old garden variety powdered soup ie. gross.

    Take care, keep writing x

    1. Kylie, I just know you haven't tried his tomato cup a soup - crack in a mug, I tell ya!
Thank you for this comment, I've been spying on everyones blog despite not commenting and I always wish you were in visiting distance (for tea, not a month stay, honest!).
I'll email you this evening with my address.

  3. I have quite a yearning for a cup-a-soup now, but then I've just had some Supanoodles for lunch, so clearly I have no critical faculty when it comes to food...
I do however know a bloody good writer and a fabulous blog when I see them, so I am sad to see the end of Being of Sound Mind and Lucewoman. But like a Phoenix from the ashes, a new blog will come, and very soon, I hope. Will you let all your followers know how to find you? You are way too talented not to pursue your writing. I am still hoping for fame and fortune to come your way via an award-winning script/screen play.
It was SO good to meet you in person, Lucy, and hope to do so again as soon as possible. Keep in touch, I miss you when you're not around. xxxxx

  6. I do love a posh Ainsley cup-a-soup as a nice change from value noodles every now and then.
Now you've announced the end of Being of Sound Mind you've gone and wiped the smile off my face. Please stay in touch and blog again when you're ready. The few hours I spent with you confirm what a brilliant, witty and beautiful woman I knew you were (and Liz hasn't stopped talking about how stunning you are, either).
Second To None's waiting for you. xxx

I can't wait to revisit Second to None and keep finding out more about you. You're a true inspiration and I just loved meeting you.

  7. News like this is received with a mixture of relief and expectation. Relief that you have popped up again, and expectation that there will be a new blog which we all anticipate with genuine pleasure. To echo what the others have said, don't forget to let us know when you are ready to receive visitors.

  8. I really loved meeting you, why do you have to live so far away? Imagine the kind of coffee mornings we could have - Sma5h TV and a range of cuppa soups, then slagging off the tv. Please don't be gone for long, I love your style of writing, to think that it could be lost is very sad xxxxxxxx

  9. My lovely Lucy! It was beyond a thrill to meet you! We so needed more time, more food and more booze and then hours more in Second to None, why I bet I'd strip down to more than just my undies by then :) You are just as honest, funny and beautiful as you are here.

I am not sad to see this blog end because I know you are starting over in so many ways so to me it makes perfect sense. I can't wait for you to pop up again and see what tales you tell. If it wasn't for Lucewoman we would have never ever met and that would be a shame.

Blogging for all of us has changed our lives in some way and that is not magic that is each and every one of us reaching out and connecting with others. The friendships I have made because of blogging have enriched my life and filled my heart with even more love than I thought possible.

I wish you all the best Lucy and I know we will stay in touch forever.
I love you silly girl with the sweet tooth :)
    XOXO

    1. Thank you for such a supportive comment. I hope you get back here soon, if not then I'll just have to come and stay. But no more than 3 days, I DO NOT want you comparing me to a rotten fish!
Those undies - I will never erase that image from my mind! You're the liveliest person I've ever met, but such a good listener too. A rare combination. X

  11. Funny thing, blogs. How deleting them can be quite painful. Well alright maybe not everybody feels that way, but I always found it a bit like having fabby peeps to stay and then they go onto new adventures and you stay behind and you're all lost. Sort of bereft. I'm not making sense. sorry.

Anyway there's the promise of a new blog so something cheerful after all. :)

I look forward to the next one Lucy. Your observations and writing are cracking and I love reading them.

  14. You'd better bloody come back and let us (me) know where you are. Or I'll send MTV round (have you seen it? The Valleys - a friend of mine works for MTV and texted me to apologise). I think I know why you're thinking of deleting it. It's like old love letters from an ex isn't it? Or am I way off?

You already know I think you're great, so I shan't go on repeating everyone else's compliments. But they are true.

    X

PS. my home phone number changed. Instead of ending 3451 it's now the year Hendrix died. God I'm great with this internet security business.

More poetry please, and more cryptic.nonsense with dishing out personal details. You've always been the master of disguise and at your funniest when banality and sarcasm feature heavily. I've missed

  20. Don't delete your blog, Lucy. You can just leave it or make it private so only you can see it. It would be a shame to erase the telling of a significant part of your life.

You never know, you may be interested to see what you were thinking in ten years or so, or use the material in a book or something.

Your writing is so good, don't do it! :)

    All the best.

  24. Don't delete the blog...I read somewhere you can save it as a file. It is your history and as with most of us, it came at a time when you needed it, and undoubtably has helped you become who you are now. It is part of you. Copy it, put it away somewhere. In the future you can come back to it.
(I for one, never thought I would get to where I am now...working from home, my own little business, living life on my terms. I credit blogging. It was my first step. OK, I am not a squillionarie...but I am pretty content and it sure as hell got my creativity flowing)
But I digress. Let us know where your new home is. Good luck for the future. I often think of you when I watch Escape to the Country. I always catch the episodes where they are in Wales. Cheers Nick
